With the aim of strengthening cooperation ties in the implementation and execution of actions in favor of food safety and nutrition of Dominicans, the Ministry of the Presidency (Minpre), through the Vice Ministry of Government Coordination, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD), through which they commit to promoting innovation and competitiveness in the face of factors such as climate change.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Minpre by Jose Ramon Holguin, Vice Minister of Government Monitoring and Coordination, and Francisco Leonis Fernández, Vice President of the Board of Directors. Rolando-Blanco-Peralta, executive director for Sovereignty and Food safety and Nutritional (Setessan), and Osmar Benítez, president of the JAD.
Both organizations agreed to face events of an international nature, both economic and health, the risk of disasters and any other element that endangers the levels of sustainable food production in the national territory.
Similarly, the formation of an implementation team is established, led by the Vice Ministry of Government Coordination, made up of the directors of the Cabinet of Innovation, Data Intelligence, Coordination of Policies on Risks and Natural Disasters, and the Technical Secretariat for the sovereignty and Food safety and Nutritional (Setessan).
The areas of cooperation also cover the strengthening of innovation capacity in the agricultural sector, the design of academic offers to train the agricultural sector in disaster risk management and reduction, the development of Early Warning Systems (SAT) for risk management and prediction of multiple threats, the promotion of transparency and accountability in the use of public resources, and the creation of facilities for access to agricultural information that serves for the development of productive practices.
