The trial against the defendant congressman continues its course Guillermo Bermejo for affiliation to a terrorist organization. The Second Higher National Transitory Criminal Chamber culminated this Wednesday the stage of performance of the documentary evidence.
Before this phase began, the Attorney General’s Office requested the admission of the annexes to report 015-2021-Dircote, which contained folders with film material related to a follow-up that was carried out on Bermejo in 2006. However, the judge Andrés Churampi Garibali decided to dismiss this evidence for “lack of relevance”.
After that, the parties to the process began the documentary evidence. First, the Attorney General’s Office presented two acts of physical recognition to the current parliamentarian of Peru Libre. The first act of recognition was that of the effective collaborator CDT-SA-1969, carried out on March 4, 2015.
Prosecutor Elmer Cruzada highlighted that said diligence was carried out with the presence of representatives of the Public Ministry and the defense attorney. It also specified that the effective collaborator ratified his statement made on August 20, 2014 and recognized Bermejo as the person known as ‘El Che’ in the Vraem senderista camp.
The other act of physical recognition was the one carried out by the effective collaborator 1FPSPA2022, also dated March 4, 2015. In this document, the collaborator was ratified in his statement made on November 10, 2014 and recognized the now parliamentarian. For its part, the Prosecutor’s Office referred to both acts and indicated that both were carried out under all the guarantees of the law.
For his part, Ronald Atencio, Bermejo’s lawyer, presented a series of publications on Facebook of the current congressman corresponding to the year 2014.
Finally, Judge Andrés Churampi denied Atencio’s request to continue the next session in person and rescheduled the next hearing for next Wednesday at 3:00 in the afternoon. On that date, the final arguments stage will begin.
