Tourism will generate US$ 100 million for National Holidays, estimates Mincetur

On the National Holidays (from July 28 to 30) around one million tourists will be mobilized throughout the country, which will generate an economic impact of more than US$ 100 million, projected the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Robert Sanchez.

He indicated that these figures are the result of a study prepared by the General Directorate of Research and Studies on Tourism and Crafts of the mincetur.

Preferred destinations

According to the research, 70.2% of those surveyed would travel to regions other than their origin and 29.8% would make visits within their own region.

The busiest regions would be Lima (33.6%), Ica (10.3%), Piura (9.5%), Junín (8.7%), Arequipa (5.1%), Cajamarca (4.5%) and Loreto (3.8%).

In addition, the report indicated that tourists on this holiday would spend an average of S / 455 per person, with an average stay of four nights.

About the trip

Regarding the characteristics of the trip, mincetur specified that the main reasons would be for vacations (54.7%) and to visit family or friends (38.8%).

He added that among those who stated that they would travel for vacations/recreation, the majority indicated that the main reason for said decision was “the good climate” of the destination, being a “well-known destination” and the “tourist attractions” of the place.

Regarding the travel group, 39.4% of those surveyed indicated that they would travel as a direct family group, 22% as a couple, 18.8% would travel alone, 13.7% with friends or relatives without children, 5.4% with friends or relatives with children, and 0.7% others.

Regarding the use of the means of transport, 56.4% would use the interprovincial bus, 22.5% by plane, 7.5% own vehicle, 4.4% private mobility of a family member or friend, 4.4% minivan or tourist agency bus, the 4.8% others.

Likewise, the most used type of accommodation would be the house of relatives and/or friends (56.6%), followed by the hostel (16.2%), one or two-star hotel (10.3%), paid lodging house (5.7%) and three-star hotel (5.7%), among others.

Finally, in the case of travel modality, 78.3% would do it on their own, 16.9% with a tourist package from an agency and 4.8% would buy a tour in the place visited.
