The latest report presented by the consulting firm LCG revealed that the food and beverage index advanced drastically in July, with a month-on-month inflation of 5.8%, which means a record 8.6% variation in prices. prices so far this month.
Of food, the item with the greatest increase was that of vegetables, whose worth it advanced 6.5% in three weeks. It is followed by those derived from bread-making, cereals and pasta, which experienced a rise in prices of 2.9% in less than a month.
Meanwhile, the prices of condiments and other food products rose by 2.2%, the same variation experienced by beverages and infusions to consume at home. Meats rose 1.6%, dairy products 1.4%, meals to arrive 0.7% and oils 0.5%.
The only item that experienced a drop in its costs was that of fruits, with a decrease of 0.4%, according to the LCG report, which aims to show the effect of inflation on the pockets of Argentines.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages had a variation of 4.6% and once again became the sector that had the most incidence in all the regions of the country.
The total variation of the Basic Basket
The cost of the Total Basic Basket, which is responsible for measuring the poverty line, rose 4.55% in June, well below general inflation, which means that a “typical” family, that is, a group made up of two adults and two children, needed 104,216.80 pesos in June to avoid being considered poor.
The data on the basic basket comes from the INDEC (National Institute of Statistics and Censuses), which considers the advance of inflation and its effect on prices. In June, inflation accelerated 5.3% compared to May. In the last 12 months, it accumulated an increase of 64%.
