In recent years, numerous cases of disappearances have emerged, mainly of women, children and the elderly. The most recent was that of Sancti Spiritus professor Santiago Morgado, found dead on July 4, after four days missing.

Currently, remains unaccounted for Cuban teenager Maydeleisis Rosales, more than a year after her family reported her disappearance.

His mother, Isis Ameneiro, recently confessed to CubaNet that he has little hope of finding the teenager due to the panorama of violence and impunity that exists in Cuba.

“Maydeleisis Rosales and Yosvany Villar Avila14 years old, are only two cases for which an Amber alert should be established on the Island, where every time are more frequent the reports of disappearances of children and women”, wrote the journalist from CubaNet Maria Matienzo.

The independent feminist platforms YoSíTeCreo in Cuba and the Red Femenina have echoed the complaints about the disappearance of the young women Yenise Rojas and Addys Lopez. The next of kin of these two women have also received no response from the Police or from the investigative process that is supposedly being carried out.
