“We are not going to put in negotiation the domination of the nation, of the people of Mexico, over oil. That is very clear, the oil belongs to the Mexicans. When the Treaty was going to be renegotiated, we made it a condition that oil not enter, the oil chapter was removed, ”he added.

“We have made many efforts to serve American companies, we have agreed with almost all of them. I assisted 19 companies, and of the 19, agreements were reached with 17”, highlighted the president while pointing out that US businessmen have committed to investing 40,000 million dollars in the energy sector. “We have already signed agreements.”

The Mexican president sees a political tone in the consultations on energy policy, since it is not the companies that are dissatisfied.
“I have indications that this has to do with vested interests, who feel affected because they were looting Mexico,” López Obrador pointed out, recalling that during his visit to Washington the energy issue was not touched on, nor during his meeting with businessmen.
“We have a lot of elements to respond to, and, if it is a political sanction, we are also going to defend ourselves,” the president added while pointing out that “if there is no reason, we are not going to sit idly by.”
