The National Election Jury (JNE) has been dispatching 103 technical inspectors to various parts of the country, who will be in charge of verifying the computer centers installed by the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) for the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections, reported Álvaro Alayo, an analyst at the National Directorate Control and Electoral Processes (DNFPE).
In an interview with JNE TV, the specialist specified that the personnel sent must verify the installation of computer equipment, communications infrastructure, among other technical aspects, and check whether they meet the minimum technical criteria to guarantee that the elections are carried out in accordance with the election regulations.
He pointed out that in previous days, the inspectors were trained by specialists from the National Directorate of Inspection and Electoral Processes (DNFPE) in order to carry out an optimal job.
Alayo explained that the auditors are professionals specialized in technological issues and that, for the most part, they are graduates of systems engineering, computer science, electronics and telecommunications. Similarly, a large number of them already have experience in previous electoral processes.
He recalled that there are currently areas within the JNE that are purely in charge of electoral control, the resume of the candidates and technical control.
Oversight of table member draw
On the other hand, Alayo reported that the JNE supervised this Friday the 22nd the draw for the members of the voting table for the 2022 Elections, carried out by the ONPE in a public act.
He specified that the ONPE selected 25 citizens for each of the 84,323 voting tables that will be installed in said elections, among which the titular and alternate members will be chosen by public lottery.
