The Provincial Commission for Memory (CPM), the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), the Central de Trabajadores de la Argentina Autónoma (CTA-A) in Buenos Aires and the Center for Malvinas Islands Ex-Combatants (Cecim) in La Plata repudiated the call for the military launched publicly by ex-carapaintista Aldo Rico in the face of the social situation and considered that their objective is to “erode the democratic system”.
“We repudiate the coup message of the former Carapintada soldier Aldo Rico, and any attempt to destabilize them,” they indicated in a statement from the Provincial Commission for Memory (CPM) and listed that the former mayor of San Miguel “claims State terrorism and rose up against democracy claiming impunity for genocide, called on his active and retired comrades to organize and be willing to rise up against the democratic system”.
The Human Rights organization considered that Rico’s message and any military expression that attempts to create a climate of chaos with the aim of destabilizing the government is “inadmissible.”
“Almost 40 years after the return of democracy, we reaffirm the fight for memory, truth and justice that became a pillar of our democracy, we reaffirm our right to walk the path of peace and justice,” they indicated from the entity and They stressed: “We cannot allow new military threats, nor denial speeches or destabilizing maneuvers of the democratic order.”
“In the face of the irresponsible statements issued by Aldo Rico, who conspicuously throughout his career held various public positions, the CGT unceremoniously rejects and repudiates this and other expressions whose sole objective is to erode our democratic system,” said the workers’ union in a statement released by Twitter by one of its owners, Héctor Daer.
In the text, the CGT affirmed that “the messages spread by this subject are not compatible with a country in which democracy is one of the agreements that transcends any type of ideology, thought or political party” and asked the Justice that ” at least investigate if these types of expressions constitute a crime”.

“From the CGT we call for prudence in the face of a social situation in which calls for violence or disorder do not collaborate with the solutions that workers need,” the text concluded.
Through a home video, broadcast yesterday on social networks, Rico made a “meeting call before the crisis and before the battle, as is customary in our Armed Forces.”
“Comrades, when the homeland is in danger, everything is lawful, except letting it disappear,” he said, predicting that “the circumstances of violence are going to deepen.”
In this context, the Cecim of La Plata stated in a statement that “in these worrying days where there is evidence of a voracious offensive by financial speculators against the interests of the vast majority of the Argentine people, the voice of the carapintada coup plotter Aldo Rico appears launching a proclamation evoking being the ‘moral reserve’ summoning his ‘comrades from Malvinas'”.
Likewise, he recalled that Rico “starred in the carapintadas uprisings between 1987 and 1988, conditioning democracy with the laws of impunity, due obedience and full stop.”
“It echoes the destabilizing wave of its political bosses and agitates by calling a meeting with the murderers and torturers who were part of the Armed Forces during the civic-military dictatorship, who also participated in the war adventure carried out in 1982 that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of conscript soldiers in the Falklands War,” he added in the statement.
The APDH repudiated Aldo Rico and warned that his statements are typical of “the coup right”
The Permanent Assembly for Human Rights (APDH) expressed its “deepest repudiation and indignation” at the statements of Aldo Rico, who publicly called on the military to organize “against the constitutional order,” and warned that these are “maneuvers ” typical of the “coup right”.
“His sayings are part of a long saga of expressions, gestures and maneuvers of the vernacular right, coup plotter, servile to the factual powers, which encourages political, social and economic chaos, to gain control of the State and impose the order of cemeteries,” the APDH said in a statement.
The agency described Rico as “an amanuense, former carapintada, coup plotter, of painful memory” and accused him of having publicly demonstrated “against the constitutional order and the institutions of the Republic.”
He also targeted the “press and the judiciary” for being “accomplices” and generating “uncertainty and fear in the population” in order to “achieve their purposes.”
“They are mere instruments of the concentrated powers that want to impose their policies of hunger and repression,” he added.
In this context, he called: “We call on all the free organizations of the people to be alert” and vindicated the “memory” of society, which “has long suffered in its recent history from the horror of State terrorism.”
At the same time, he pointed against “the installation of policies of looting and hunger, the destruction of long-cherished conquests and rights, and the exclusion of millions of compatriots thrown to their fate.”
“Let no one be confused, supreme values are at stake,” he warned and urged not to naturalize “hate” and not to be “indifferent” to it.
“Our survival, that of the Democracy that cost us so much, is in serious danger,” warned the human rights organization.
Likewise, he pointed out that due to “historical experience” the future is defended “with organization and struggle in the streets and in the squares.”
Rico broadcast in a video that he posted on social networks a message in which he summoned the military in what he considered “a meeting call before the crisis and before the battle, as is customary in our Armed Forces.”
“Comrades, when the Homeland is in danger, everything is lawful, except letting it disappear,” said the ex-military man, predicting that “the circumstances of violence are going to deepen.”
The ex-combatants of La Plata pointed out that “it is not new that the former dictators and those responsible for the greatest disappearance of people, kidnappings of babies, indebtedness, torture of their soldiers in the Malvinas war, say present. They are coup plotters and murderers” and they manifested that “they never defended national sovereignty and even less popular sovereignty, on the contrary they acted accordingly against the interests of the Argentine people”.
In this context, they repudiated “the expressions of those responsible for the defeat of the Malvinas, such as Aldo Rico and the military protected by a Judicial Power that does not act accordingly in the face of such anti-democratic manifestations.”
At the same time, the Cecim de La Plata asked the Ministry of Defense to “take all necessary measures so that people who are far from having touched honor, with such a record, continue to maintain their military rank.”
The ex-soldiers called on “the popular forces, the political parties, the trade union centrals, the human rights organizations, the various NGOs and the Centers for Ex-combatants and all the expressions of the popular field to continue working in unity for memory, truth, justice, sovereignty and peace”.
Meanwhile, the CTA-A of Buenos Aires also repudiated Rico’s statements in a statement as “coup plotters, anti-democratic and anti-people” and targeted the ex-military man for trying to “install himself on the political scene by instigating an attack on the democratic government.”
“Forty years ago the Argentine people shouted Never Again! to put an end to dictatorial and genocidal governments and it is that same cry that all popular organizations wield today,” said the union organization.
Along the same lines, the Secretary for Human Rights of the Buenos Aires CTA-A, Emiliano Hueravilo, emphasized: “We are not going to allow these genocides to make these types of comments.”
In addition, he stressed that from the Buenos Aires CTA-A “we reaffirm democracy”, and consequently, “we guarantee constitutional governments, whether we think the same or not”, so that “we will never again have these characters who want to kill our democracy with blood.
“We reject the sayings of Rico and all those who may think like him, and we bet on democracy, debate and organization from the streets,” Hueravilo completed.
