the minister of Economy, Planning and Development, Pável Isa Contrerasvalued the ethical imperative and the Government’s immediate response to protect citizens through subsidies in the face of the onslaught of the post-pandemic era, as well as the confrontation in Eastern Europe, generated by the rise in hydrocarbons and cereals.
“The Government has had to respond to these contingencies with a perspective and commitment ethical, since it visualizes planning in a flexible way, which has allowed it to commit the resources allocated to public investment and improvement of public services. However, it has had to allocate them to protect people from the immediate shock of increases of all kinds in international markets that reduce people’s purchasing power”, highlighted the economist and university professor, Pável Isa.

Isa Contreras pointed out that given the impact of the crisis response to the post-COVID recovery of the Dominican economy, the Government offers an immediate response with a policy of fuel subsidies, since it is an ethical imperative to protect the population.
“It is an ethical imperative for the state to preserve what has been recovered after the passage of the pandemic with subsidies until the situation normalizes. We cannot leave the most vulnerable and the most disadvantaged communities unprotected, ”she indicated.
Regarding the meeting with the civil governors of the Eastern Region in this eastern city, Pável Isa, explained that his visit and that of the deputy ministers and general directors of the institution is due to the interest of continuing to ratify that the policies aimed at turning the territories into the center of their own development and improving the well-being of their residents.
