After 11:00 pm this Thursday, the caravan of trucks with nearly 50,000 quintals of different merchandise to supply the national market arrived at Merca Panama.
They were received with the song “Patria”, by the Panamanian singer-songwriter Rubén Blades and with a large sign that said: Welcome Heroes!
The journey from Tierras Altas, in Chiriquí, to the capital city ended after 44 hours of an eventful trip, in which even the producers saw their lives and the cargo they were transporting in danger.
It should be noted that, initially, the caravan was stopped at various points on the Inter-American highway, Chiriquí province, where groups from the Ngäbe Buglé region kept the road blocked, but upon reaching Viguí, the limit of the provinces of Chiriquí and Veraguas up to Panama, the convoy he was threatened by armed men, who prevented his passage. To prevent a situation to be regretted, the producers preferred to go back to Veladero, in the district of Tolé.
A contingent of the National Police arrived in the sector and was in charge of guarding them until Merca Panama.
