After the fall of the digital platform shopnetwhich stopped operating since last week, the Ministry of Finance assured that it has been working permanently on its reactivation.
The agency’s response comes after organizations such as the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) and the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) have expressed concern about the suspension of platform operations.
In this regard, the Secretary of Finance He pointed out that not only is work being done to preserve the information contained in the system, but also to strengthen the system’s capabilities.
“CompraNet is a valuable tool for transparency and surveillance of public purchases, so we are working not only for its restoration, but also for its strengthening and modernization, so that Mexico has a platform that meets the needs of the public,” said the dependency in a statement.
The Platform of Discord
It should be remembered that Compranet is a platform created to present, store and verify the progress of public works, tenders and contracts.
Although the aforementioned groups have expressed their concern about the lack of transparency in the processes without the support of Compranet, for the Ministry of Finance, compliance with the obligations in terms of accountability must be fulfilled once the system is reestablished.
“The contracting procedures will continue to be carried out in person, respecting the law at all times. Once the operation of CompraNet is resumed, the institutions must upload all the information of the processes that are carried out into the system, to guarantee accountability,” reiterated the unit in charge of the platform.
He recalled that it would be the Ministry of Public Function, through the Internal Control Bodies, who verifies that the processes are carried out in accordance with the transparency requirements.
