The Minister of Economy, Silvina Batakiswill be received next Monday in Washington by the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgievadvanced official sources.

The ambassador to the United States, Jorge Arguelloworked on the agenda that the minister will develop in the capital of the United States, where the official will also hold meetings with officials from the Treasury, the World Bank, Wall Street investors and directors of international companies.

“Minister Silvina Batakis is going to arrive in Washington on Sunday afternoon, and then we are immediately going to have a working meeting at the Embassy”The Argentine ambassador to the United States, Jorge Argüello, told Télam.

“On Monday morning, high officials from the United States Treasury will receive it, then authorities from the International Monetary Fund will do the same, and finally executives from the World Bank,” the diplomat explained.

The ambassador pointed out that “President Alberto Fernández, on the basis that the meeting with President Joseph Biden is postponed for a few days, instructed me to put together an intense agenda for the Minister of Economy, and it is armed”he remarked.

Argüello, when giving details of the agenda, specified that “on Tuesday we are going to have a working breakfast with investors and analysts from Wall Street, who will come to Washington, at the Argentine Embassy; and later we are going to have a meeting at the US Chamber of Commerce a round with the main North American companies that have investments in Argentina”.

“After that, Minister Batakis will maintain a series of bilateral meetings with the authorities of the Google, Chevron, Amazon and General Motors companies,” the diplomat concluded.

The meeting with the President

The trip to Washington was one of the topics addressed in the meeting that the minister held with the president Alberto Fernandez in the office of the head of state at Government House, in which the head of the Central Bank was also present, Miguel Pesce.

The head of the Chamber of Deputies, Serge Massaalso approached Casa Rosada to meet with the Secretary General of the Presidency, Julio Vitobello, to collaborate with the design of that minister’s agenda.
