The Strategic Operations Group (GOE) settled in the La Fortaleza farm, located in the Pao de San Juan Bautista municipality (El Pao), Cojedes, where sociologist Carlos Lanz was allegedly murdered, police sources said.
The GOE was recently created and incorporated into the investigations aimed at clarifying the kidnapping, disappearance and murder of Carlos Lanz, as reported on July 12 by the Minister of the Interior, Remigio Ceballos.
The GOE agents arrived at the farm this Wednesday under the guidance of Humberto Ramírez, deputy minister of the Integrated Criminal Investigation System and former director of the Cicpc.
Before the GOE arrived, Civil Protection officials carried out a cleaning operation in the rural property.
Among the areas of interest to the GOE is the makeshift grave where the body of Carlos Lanz was originally deposited when he was murdered on August 8, 2020, according to what was stated by the Attorney General, Tarek William Saab.
The pig shed with approximately 12 cells built in padded blocks is also subject to inspection, where Lanz’s remains were allegedly thrown as food for nine pigs that were raised there during the month of August 2020, a source explained.
They also inspect other sites where small improvised shallow pits are observed. In a first inspection they had obtained some vertebrae that they transferred to the main headquarters of the Forensic Science Service (Senamef), explained the source.
For this new inspection carried out in La Fortaleza, the GOE brought specialized dogs to search for human remains. The location of the bone remains corresponding to Lanz’s body is pending, the informant explained.
La Fortaleza has an area of 8 hectares where they raised cattle (beef and pigs) in addition to growing corn. The owner is Tito Viloria, as reported by Saab on Wednesday, July 6, when he informed the country about the murder of Carlos Lanz.
Precisely, the Prosecutor referred that Tito Viloria was the person who was in charge of removing Lanz from his house located in Maracay on August 8, 2020, under the excuse of a meeting with militiamen. La Fortaleza is near the Las Garzas farmhouse, on the way to the town of El Baúl, Cojedes.
