Santa Cruz, the most affected region
The Santa Cruz department still concentrates the largest number of people with Covid-19. The manager of Epidemiology of the Headquarters of Santa Cruz, Carlos Hurtado, reported that on this day the largest number of municipalities in which infections were detected so far in the pandemic was registered.
“Today, December 14, 2021, with the number of municipalities committed to positive cases greater than the entire pandemic. 45 municipalities with cases today and a positivity rate of 19%, (there are) 978 positive cases, ”Hurtado reported.
The departmental authority pointed out that with this figure the department of Santa Cruz adds 151,018 cases of coronavirus so far this year and warned that this figure is almost three times higher than the number of cases registered in 2020.
“It is time to take sanitary measures at home and not expose yourself in nightclubs, karaoke bars, jukeboxes or in places of mass concentration. From the Governor’s Office, we continue to apply containment and mitigation strategies for this fourth wave, ”Hurtado remarked and called on the population to get vaccinated.
According to information from the Santa Cruz headquarters, the death of 16 people was reported on December 14, 13 of them without any vaccination. In addition, it was announced that there are 135 patients in intensive care because of the disease, of that total 95 are connected to a respirator.
Vaccination and recovered
In its vaccination report to date, the Ministry of Health and Sports reports that until this Tuesday 9,791,854 doses were applied between the first, second, third, unit doses, doses for adolescents 12 to 17 years old and for children older than 5 to 11 years.
The report considers that 420,362 adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 received the first dose and 210,623 the second. The doses that were applied to children over 5 years old reached 39,492 throughout the national territory.
It is also reported that 1,038 patients recovered from Covid-19 and were discharged. The registry of recovered patients by department is as follows: 577 in Santa Cruz, 159 in Cochabamba, 102 in La Paz, 22 in Chuquisaca, 91 in Tarija, 52 in Potosí, 10 in Oruro, 22 in Beni and 3 in Pando.
