The women’s team of Corinthians defeated his rival in the city, the Sao Paulo (3-1) on Wednesday to win the Sao Paulo state championship in a match that saw the record for spectators in a women’s soccer match: 31,077 spectators saw Gabi Zanotti overtake Corinthians with two goals in the first half.
Nana scored a goal at halftime to cut back for Sao Paulo, but Adriana made it 3-1 in the final seconds to give the hosts the title (3-2 on aggregate).
The result capped a glorious year for Corinthians, who added the state title to the Brazilian league trophy and the Copa Libertadores, the South American version of the UEFA Champions League.
