Luis Carlos Sarmiento donated Cancer Treatment and Research Center

President Duque inaugurated the Cancer Treatment and Research Center (CTIC), that will render its services in Bogotá. A project donated by Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo, which involved a donation of more than 400 million dollars “The greatest act of philanthropy for health in the history of Colombia,” the president said on Thursday.

This CTIC intends to position itself as a leading technology hospital, cancer treatment and research, care for all types of patients.

“We seek to make inclusion one of its most important principles; likewise, offer the best quality care, making the best professionals and technical teams available to patients, having prevention programs as axes of work, as well as researchSarmiento Angulo said.

According to President Duque, this center corrects three major social gaps in the health system: first of all, it will serve all Colombians with the same quality, “regardless of the size of their wallet and regardless of the stratum”, which is “a great tribute to so many Colombians”.

And he stressed that, in addition, the center is designed so that all cancer care services are in one place, for that the patients they do not have to be pilgrimage”, nor exposure to pollution and microbes that human interaction implies.

By the end of 2023, the center is expected to have 680 employees and 7,000 new patients, who will be treated in the 146 rooms and more than 35 units intensive care, “in each of the certified and specialized treatments that today mark a regional benchmark, giving life, giving hope to thousands of families,” said the president.

“For this reason, I am proud that today in Colombia we are seeing this center, and let this be an expression of scientific and technological transformation that occurs in the midst of a pandemic”, President Duque pointed out.

The first stage of the Cancer Treatment and Research Center (CTIC) It has 100,000 square meters of construction and has an 11-story hospitalization tower and hospital services.connected to a 5-story facility that contains most of the center’s outpatient services and, finally, a third building in which the research center is housed.

The complex has hospitalization services, intensive care, intermediate care, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, diagnostic imaging, operating rooms, doctor’s offices, infusion cubicles and clinical laboratory and pathology.
