“Dangerous and armed”, this is how the United States Drug Enforcement Agency warned of Rafael Caro Quintero, one of the most wanted men by American justice.
However, the man known as the “narco of drug traffickers” was found alone, hidden in a bush, without any firearm, so no shot was necessary for his recapture on July 15.
Before his capture, Caro Quintero was followed for several weeks, so his movements, location and habits could be identified.
Elements of the Secretary of the Navy detained him in a ranchería in Choix, Sinaloa, in the Sierra Madre Occidental, the region where in the 1980s he developed his alleged power that until today and despite decades in prison, has not been fallen apart.
