Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, called today not to forget who we are, to keep in mind that history that defines the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, and is essential for ALBA-TCP.
Gonsalves intervened in the XX Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty, which takes place in this capital, where he stressed that we have to make use of that memory in contemporary conditions, to work together and solidarity, and thus not discredit our future.
Before President Miguel Díaz-Canel and the heads of delegations attending the meeting, he expressed his confidence and security in Cuban vaccines against COVID-19, even though the population of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines could have access to those of other countries .
We are here in a very complicated global moment of great contradictions, he said, alluding to the impact of the epidemic, the world economic crisis, climate change and international and local conflicts, for which he suggested working to find the ideal way to solve them , including through dialogue with the greatest economic and military power in the world: the United States of America.
The head of government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines told how in his contacts with his American friends he has defended the causes of the peoples of the region, among them those of Cuba and Nicaragua, and in this sense he took the opportunity to reiterate his congratulations to President Daniel Ortega, as well as the presidents of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and of Bolivia, Luis Arce, for the electoral victories achieved.
In another part of his intervention, he stated that a sanction to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, by the United States, also affects some Caribbean islands, and gave an example to Petrocaribe, or the fact that we cannot receive loans from the World Bank in the one that the imperialist power puts money into.
