The mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero announced that next week the dry tests will be carried out in Hidroituango, From the municipal administration they confirmed that the scheduled date is next Tuesday, July 26.
“The other week we are going to carry out the first tests of Hidroituango, this is something to feel proud of, to feel really united as a nation, but also a recognition of a Medellin that fell and is getting up and that is going to deliver Hidroituango to Colombia”, Quintero stated.

This announcement coincides with the deadlines estimated by EPM, that in the first days of July ended with the transfer and assembly of the stator of unit number two, an essential piece for conversion of hydraulic energy into electrical energy, by that time had revealed the beginning of tests with two generators by the end of the month.
On July 12, the entity reported the restriction on visits to the underground works of the project, to start the process of filling the north tank or beaconanother of the recent hydroelectric milestones that have shown the significant progress of the works and the latent possibility that Hidroituango will begin to generate energy before the end of 2022.

The news comes amid a tense atmosphere after meeting the announcement by the Attorney General to request indictment hearings against nine former officials and individuals for alleged hiring irregularities and project management.

One of those involved who spoke out against the process was the former mayor of Medellín, Alonso Salazar who stated that he has already appealed the decision trusting that it will be revoked and everything will be cleared up.
