Residents of the Santa Fe town of Las Parejas found more dollar bills in a garbage dump in that city, after municipal employees found, on Monday, some US$50,000 in a bag, forcing the local mayor to bring private security “to ensure the best possible climate.
“The news is strange, but it is what has been happening since Monday morning,” said the mayor of Las Parejas, Horacio Campagnucci, about the appearance of a bag with dollars in a city dump located 98 kilometers west of Rosary beads.
“The employees found bags with dollar bills and that generated a lot of noise in the city,” Campagnucci explained in statements to FM Sol Play.
After Monday’s discoverywhen municipal employees who worked in the place found a bag with US$50,000, which was apparently in a wardrobe thrown into the dump, more bills appeared during the day.
One of the local workers told local media that a young man took part of the mysterious loot yesterday.
“The boy was hugging him,” he said, while the neighbors estimated that he had raised about US$20,000, although it is impossible to specify.
Dozens of neighbors also came to the dump, located at one end of the town, to try their luck.
“This caused many people from the city to come to the property in search of this treasure, and on Tuesday morning they found another bag with a little more money,” said Mayor Campagnucci.
In addition, the community chief pointed out that “we had to work with private security personnel to try to ensure the best possible climate” among the searchers.
According to the testimony of the driver of a municipal bulldozer, the money would have been in an old wardrobe thrown into the dump, which he hooked up with the machine over the weekend, without noticing that there were US bills there.
For now, it remains a mystery how that “treasure” came, as the mayor described it, to the Las Parejas dump, an agricultural area in the southwest of Santa Fe known for its agricultural machinery factories.
