congressman Elvis Vergaraimplicated in the case ‘The children’ by the businesswoman Karelim López, was ratified this Monday, July 18, as spokesperson for the Popular Action bench.
Through a statement, said parliamentary group indicated that the decision was approved unanimously, with which Vergara will continue to be in charge of the spokesperson for the period 2022-2023.
“The congressmen who make up the parliamentary group support the leadership of our new spokesperson, who has worked to fulfill the objectives and goals that we have set for ourselves. And we know that he will continue to lead the bench with the same dedication, commitment and unity in this new period ”he indicated.
On May 28, Acción Popular reported that it temporarily suspended the militancy of the six congressmen who have been accused of being ‘Los Niños’ for the testimony of karelim lopez as an effective collaborator.
The measure reaches Vergara himself, in addition to Raúl Doroteo, Ilich López, Juan Mori, Darwin Espinoza and Jorge Flores Ancachi. The statement was signed by the general secretary of the party, Edmundo del Águila Morote.
However, Elvis Vergara did not accept the measure stating that said document “has no validity”. “Mr. Edmundo del Águila does not have any type of representation in the party and you can corroborate that before the party instances such as the National Elections Jury”he stated.
It should be noted that last June the Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation issued an impediment to leave the country against the former Minister of Transport and Communications Juan Silva Villegas and two congressmen from Acción Popular.
In the first place, said judicial instance approved the coercive measure for 36 months against the former head of the MTC, who is being investigated by the National Prosecutor, Pablo Sánchez, for the alleged commission of the crimes of collusion and criminal organization.
Meanwhile, the same request was declared founded for nine months against the accionpopulista legislators Raul Doroteo and Darwin Espinoza.
The measure was rejected Elvis Vergara, Juan Carlos Mori, Jorge Flores Ancachi and Ilich López. All of them are being investigated for the alleged crime of aggravated influence peddling.
