New win. The Central Peruvian restaurant was selected as the second best culinary option by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants ranking, a list compiled by gastronomic professionals worldwide.
The restaurant, run by Peruvian chefs Virgilio Martínez and Pía León, won this award on July 18 after a gala held at Old Billingsgate, in London, due to the program’s twentieth anniversary. The event brought together the best chefs in the world.
The Lima restaurant rises two positions on the payroll after ranking, last 2021, as the fourth best in the world. Another Peruvian culinary space that managed to position itself in the ranking was Maido, by chef Mitsuharu Tsumura, ranked 11th.
In this 2022 edition, the Danish restaurant Geranium managed to position itself as the Best Restaurant in the World. In addition, in third, fourth and fifth place were Enjoy (Barcelona), DiverXO and Pujol (Mexico City) respectively.
