CSS declares itself on green alert and issues a contingency plan to guarantee medicines

Given the closure of several roads in different parts of the country as a result of protests by various organizations, the Social Security Fund (CSS) activated the Green Alert as a contingency plan to guarantee the supply of medicines and supplies and to continue providing care to the insured population, the consultations are being provided, the doctors are attending, however, a large number of patients are not coming to their appointment, because they are not allowed free movement.

“The alerts are raised depending on the complexity of the cases, right now, we are on green alert because we have some supplies, we really have to continue working but it is also important that the directors guarantee that supply, they are trying to make a effort, even sometimes with personal resources, they are trying to buy local things that can be used, and we have not seen those things in a long time,” said Alex González, National Executive Director of Health Services and Benefits.

He stressed that they maintain conversations with the medical directors of the different executing units, with the risk management and pre-hospital team of the ambulances to meet the needs of the country, such as oxygen, medications required to perform emergency surgeries, so which Dr. González emphasized, that in the Metropolitan area they have managed to maintain the CSS facilities with adequate operation.

“And we are trying to meet all the needs that we can, our concern is those hospitals that are in inaccessible areas, the critical points are the Chepo Hospital, Puerto Armuelles, the Dionisio Arrocha Hospital and also the Ezequiel Abadía Hospital in Soná, they are the that we are most concerned about and we also have a critical situation in Bocas del Toro and in this province the units of the Social Security Fund are the ones that supply these needs and we are working there with contingency issues,” he asserted.
