El FEDA entrega RD$13 millones

The Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA) signed an agreement with the cocoa farmers, held at the headquarters of the National Confederation of Dominican Cocoa Farmers (Conacado), in the Duarte province, with the aim of promoting the cocoa production of quality in the Dominican Republic.

Hecmilio Galvanexecutive director of FEDA, said that this sector is important because it represents an export of more than 250 million dollars. It also contributes to the protection of the environment in the country.

Galván symbolically handed over a check for RD$13 million for the construction of nurseries, which are the first part of an Investment Plan that the FEDA wishes to invest equivalent to RD$250 million, which will be used to recover the collection centers in all cocoa-growing areas. and the Fermentation Center in the country.

Galván assured that the 10 nurseries will be distributed in Río San Juan, Paraíso, Nagua, Vicentillo, Gaspar Hernández, El Valle and Pedernales, among others.

He stressed that the FEDA plan will be a complement to the PAC Cocoa Action Plan, promoted by President Abinader, and that from the FEDA they will support all those who work in the cocoa value chain.

At the event, Galván reported that the president Louis Abinader, is interested in the development of cocoa cultivation, due to the amount of foreign exchange it generates for the country. Galván assured that CONACADO has done hard work in the sector for its recovery and that the Government fully supports it.

While, Isidore of the Rosepresident of CONACADO, said that this confederation was born to serve the small cocoa producer and that in its 38 years it has been climbing in the sector, until reaching its modern processing plant, which is 80% of small producers.

De la Rosa assured that the first objective of the millennium is to ensure better social and economic well-being for the producer and the communities and that these resources and contributions from the government, through the FEDA, will meet that objective.
