Despite the fact that the National Association for the Rights of the Organized People (Anadepo), broke the agreement signed yesterday in the province of Veraguas, the government affirmed that it will maintain the commitment in which it was established to set the price of a gallon of fuel at $3.25.
According to the Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Omar Montilla, from 3:00 pm this Monday, Panamanians will be able to access fuel at the price agreed at the negotiating table,
“We are at the dialogue table and we are going to maintain it, in fact we are going to maintain the pledged word, it has just been approved in the Cabinet Council, starting at 3:00 in the afternoon everyone is going to being able to go to the fuel stations with the cheapest price in the entire region, even cheaper than in the United States, at 3 dollars and 25 cents a gallon of diesel, (gasoline) of 91 and 95”, Montilla said in a local news.
This morning the general secretary of the Association of Veragüense Educators (AEVE), Luis Sánchez, broke the agreement after the bases did not agree with some of the terms and because no agreement has been reached. regarding the basic food basket or the price of medicine, so they decided to stay on strike and in the streets.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Labor, Roger Tejada, assured that Sayer, at the dialogue table, Professor Sánchez stood up yesterday in front of all the members of the table and said that he was totally legitimized by the bases, for which it is not explained that he could occur, “and that was recorded on audio by the ombudsman’s office,” he said.
He added that ANADEPO’s excuse is that a bureaucratic system was established to receive fuel and that is not the case, since all Panamanians will be able to go and receive gasoline at $3.25 without further paperwork.
