Boca Juniors will try to recover the successful path and get closer to the avant-garde group of the Argentine League by visiting Argentinos Juniorsone of the four pointers, in a key match of the ninth date to be played between Tuesday and Thursday.
After a traumatic exit from the Copa Libertadores, which included the dismissal of coach Sebastián Battaglia and a conflict between leaders and leaders of the squad, Boca seemed to calm the waters on Saturday night, with a 1-0 win over Talleres, that cut a losing streak of three falls in a row.
Those defeats had removed Boca from the top positions, and the team now led by Hugo Ibarra has 12 points, so it is four units behind those who occupy the top of the standingsa quartet made up of Godoy Cruz, Newell’s Old Boys, Atlético Tucumán and Argentinos Juniors.
“The attitude of the players was always there, in all the games, but the mood had to be improved because it hits a lot to stay out of the Copa Libertadores. It was shown that the players have done a great job“, highlighted Ibarra, after his first victory as DT of Boca in the Bombonera.
But now Boca must visit Argentinos, who arrive invigorated with three wins in a row, including a 3-1 win over Barracas Central on the last date, and accumulates eight games without defeats in his Diego Maradona stadium, where he added 10 of his 16 points.
Another captivating comparison of the date will be the hot classic of the city of Rosario between Central, directed by Carlos Tevez, and Newell’s, one of the leaders of the championshipwho will put his undefeated record into play in the visit to ‘Canalla’, located eight points below in the table.
River, another that tries to react after being left out of the Libertadores and who barely added one of the last nine points, will receive one of the escorts at the Gimnasia y Esgrima Monumental.
The team led by Marcelo Gallardo has just dropped two points by drawing 2-2 with Vélez Sarsfield, in a match that won up to 90+2, while ‘Lobo’ also comes from equalizing, at home, a 0-0 against Colón in La Plata.
The ninth date will start on Tuesday with the Colón-Aldosivi, Platense-Central Córdoba, Racing-Arsenal, Atlético Tucumán-Sarmiento and Argentinos Juniors-Boca matches.
They will meet on Wednesday San Lorenzo-Unión, Board of Trustees-Tigre, Defense and Justice-Independent, Students-Barracas Central, Lanús-Vélez Sarsfield and Huracán-Godoy Cruz, and the closing will be on Thursday with Rosario Central-Newell’s, Talleres-Banfield and River-Gymnastics and Fencing.
