The Human Rights Organization Solidarity Network Decade Against Impunity and the Plan de Ayala National Coordinator called for the immediate release of the indigenous human rights defender Basilisa Montaño, detained in September 2021 in Puebla.
They welcomed the fact that instances of the United Nations Organizations (UN) carry out a review of the case, but assured that the State has not responded to the requests for information made by the rapporteurs.
They explained that since last May 16, the special rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, the special rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, and the rapporteur special on the rights of indigenous peoples of the UN, they asked the Mexican State for information on the judicial processes related to the defender and the activists who remain in informal preventive detention in Tehuacán.
The organizations detailed in the public document, in addition to expressing their concern about the way in which the arrest and the informal pre-trial detention were ordered, that said instances granted 60 days to the State, however, it has been ignored and has not given any response to the rapporteurs

In a statement, they recalled that on September 1, 2021, after a peaceful resistance of the population of Coyomeapan
the government of Puebla set up a work table with the representation of the communities.
