Authorities dismantled a network of sexual exploitation and human trafficking, which operated in Bogotá and Cúcuta, in Colombia. Among the victims are Venezuelans.

The operation was carried out by The National Police, through the Directorate of Protection and Special Services (Dipro). Also in joint work with the Attorney General’s Office and the NGO Operation Underground Railroad.

In this, 10 people were captured, including “Camila”, designated pimp and alleged leader of the criminal organization. Her modus operandi consisted of evading the controls of the authorities with false Venezuelan documents to pass off the victims as adults.

Investigation of the network of sexual exploitation in Colombia

The investigations to find the band took four months, in an operation called “Chameleon”. Within the framework of this, three raids were carried out on night entertainment venues and brothel houses in the crowded area of Venecia, in the Colombian capital, Bogotá.

As a result, four adolescents were rescued, three of them of Venezuelan nationality, whose ages range between 14 and 17 years of age.

Likewise, the police investigation determined that alias “Camila” had kidnapped a minor under 17 years of age for sexual exploitation in the municipality of Ibarra (Ecuador). This teenager managed to escape from her captors and return to the country.

Prior to the operation, the police managed to rescue two other young Colombian women who were also victims of sexual exploitation. Both are under the protection of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare.
