The official recalled that last Friday the General Council of the INE adjusted its 2022 budget to absorb the cut approved by the Chamber of Deputies, for 4.913 million pesos in its spending.
Even with the adjustments, the INE faces a deficit to comply with the mandate revocation process, where more than 161 thousand polling stations need to be installed. like those that took place in the federal elections last June.
That amount is insufficient – stressed the president of the INE – because the revocation will imply an expense of at least 3.8 billion pesos.
With the adjustments of last Friday, the INE will have a purse of 1,503 million pesos for the eventual realization of this exercise, since the release of resources of the order of 445.4 million pesos was approved, as a result of canceling the construction of the Board INE premises in Colima, according to the institute.
In addition, a savings commitment of 227.1 million pesos was made and more than 830.5 million pesos will be added to the organization of the eventual recall exercise, resources that the Chamber authorized for an eventual popular consultation in 2022.
According to Lorenzo Córdova, even with these adjustments, “the budget gap” facing the institute is 2.3 billion pesos. For this reason, the official said that it was decided to go before the Court to define how the INE should advance in the mandate revocation process or whether the needed resources should be delivered.
As required by law, the @INEMexico made budget adjustments to be in a position to carry out an eventual Mandate Revocation process that, if requested by the citizens, requires resources of more than 3 thousand 830 million pesos. pic.twitter.com/WHozC6cQY6
