The Economic Federation of the Province of Buenos Aires (FEBA) highlighted the expectations of the SME sector in view of the important tourist movement that is expected for these winter holidays, with a second edition of the Pre-Trip program that, with more than 300,000 registered, would reach a of more than $9,000 million.

The Argentine Tourism Observatory, of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism, observes an important movement in the provinces that have already started the winter break and estimates that the occupation “will be in the order of 90% in traditional destinations,” said Daniel Loyola, president Tourism of FEBA.

“According to private sector forecasts, they expect the figures to rise between 5% and 15% in the coming days when the winter holidays begin in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) and in the province of Buenos Aires” Loyola commented.

In this sense, the leader of the FEBA affirmed “Family rural tourism and traditional cities are the most chosen destinations” within the Buenos Aires territory.

“According to private sector forecasts, they expect the figures to rise between 5% and 15% in the coming days when the winter holidays begin in CABA and in the province of Buenos Aires”Daniel Loyola

He also added that “the reserves are at levels similar to 2021”, with which, “if these levels are met and the numbers of last year are equaled, the Buenos Aires tourism sector will not obtain great profits, but neither will considerable losses”, he stressed.

So far, the surveys speak of an average reservation/occupancy of 65% in CABA, 90% Tandil, 70% Pinamar, 60% Sierra de la Ventana, 60% San Antonio de Areco, 55% Mar del Plata and Villa Gesell, and 50% La Plata, among others, FEBA specified in a statement.

In this regard, Loyola considered that “the tourist is going to leave, but with a very moderate level of consumption, mainly conditioned by the inflationary blow in supermarket products”, which “also affects the gastronomic, the hotel sector and merchants in general”.

Another factor highlighted by the FEBA leader is the reactivation of foreign tourism, mainly from Brazil, Uruguay, Chile and the United States.

“After more than two years of pandemic, this winter season will be characterized by a greater influx of visitors, also favored by the change, something that will help greater consumption and spending in different locations in Buenos Aires, an area of interest due to its history, tradition, culture and landscapes”Loyola concluded.
