14 killed in Navy helicopter crash

This Friday 14 people died in a helicopter accident of the Mexican Navy in the state of Sinaloa, in the northwest of the country.

“A Black Hawk helicopter was involved in an accident, the cause of which is unknown at this time,” the Navy said in a statement.

“In said helicopter 15 people were transported, of which unfortunately 14 lost their lives and one is receiving medical attention,” he added.

The Navy said the aircraft went down while carrying out operational activities but did not specify which ones.

“The corresponding investigations will be carried out to determine the causes that could cause the accident of said aircraft,” he added.

The agency clarified that the accident is not related to the operation in which the historic drug trafficker Rafael Caro Quintero was arrested this Friday in Sinaloa.
