A group of educators marched to the Comptroller General of the Republic, on Avenida Balboa, this Friday, July 14, to demand, in addition to the freezing of fuel at $3 and a drop in the price of the basic basket, that the processes to disburse the budget for food and improvements in educational centers are streamlined.
According to the teacher’s leader, Diógenes Sánchez, from the Association of Teachers of the Republic of Panama, it is inconceivable that there is money in the country for everything except for the education and feeding of our children.
“It is the Comptroller’s Office that is currently paralyzing the delivery of cookies and milk, our children do not have a single glass of milk at this time, while the deputies have bottles of whiskey to drink,” he said, assuring that in the dialogue Due to the high cost of living, they should not bring in people who have not participated in the struggle and that to do so is to hinder the negotiations.
The teachers closed the road that leads to the city on the Cinta Costera, which caused the paralysis of vehicular traffic.
In addition, the educators who were in the premises of the Escuela República de Venezuela, joined this concentration.
Others who joined the protests, but on the Centenario road and the North Corridor, were the drivers of dump trucks, since they closed both road arteries. They assure that they also hope to be admitted to the solidary fuel platform.
