Venezuela has seized more than 22 thousand kilograms of drugs in 2022

Venezuela has achieved the seizure of more than 22 thousand kilograms of drugs so far in 2022, reported the National Anti-Drug Superintendent, Major General (MG) Richard López Vargas.

“Venezuela is a territory free of illicit crops, as a result of the effective public policies of the Venezuelan State in the matter, achieving the seizure of more than 22 thousand kilograms of drugs this year,” said López Vargas, during the presentation of the Anti-Drug Balance 2022 of Venezuela in the “II Seminar Conference on the Fight against the World Drug Problem as part of the Nation’s Security”, held this Thursday at the headquarters of the National Anti-Drug Superintendence (Sunad) in Caracas.

He explained that the 22,000 kilograms of drugs were seized in 4,027 procedures carried out in 1,141 Quadrants of Peace, deployed in the national territory, in order to combat drug trafficking and micro-trafficking, referred to a Sunad press release.

López Vargas explained that during the year 2022, 47 military operations were deployed by the Strategic Operational Command (Ceofanb) on the border with Colombia, leaving as a result a large logistics platform with an order of operations, and the destruction of 54 unauthorized runways, 37 laboratories destroyed and 18 aircraft neutralized.

The National Anti-Drug Superintendent indicated that “in the next few days the Sunad National Drug Report 2022 will be published”, a document that shows statistical information and details of the nation’s achievements and progress against the world drug problem.

International relations

At the Seminar, the anti-drug superintendent, Richard López Vargas, highlighted the cooperation that Venezuela has on drugs with other countries and highlighted the participation of Sunad in each of the meetings convened by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (Unodc), the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF), the Cooperation Mechanism on Drugs between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean, CELAC-EU and the Annual Meeting of Copolad III, organizations and institutions that carry out exchanges of experiences that allow strengthening the actions that lead to the fight against drugs.

In this sense, the bilateral meetings with the representatives of Germany, Cuba, Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Russia were also highlighted, countries with which Venezuela maintains cooperation in this common but differentiated struggle in favor of the villages.

International Seminar

The “II International Seminar on the Fight against the World Drug Problem as part of the Nation’s Security”, was broadcast virtually, and addressed to officials of the Citizen Security Organizations (OSC), Armed Forces Bolivarian National (Fanb), Public Ministry (MP), with a registry of participants from Spain, Mexico and Nicaragua.

The event addressed issues related to the fight against drugs and other actions that contribute to the security of the nation.

The forum featured speakers from Sunad, including the Director of the Center for Strategic Anti-Drug Analysis (CAE), GD Gabriel Quintero; the Director General of the Venezuelan Drug Observatory (OVD) SM2 Carlos Capote; as well as the National Anti-Drug Commander GD Alberto Matheus; and the Deputy Director Against Drugs of the Public Ministry (MP), Dr. Enrique Beltrán. The closure was in charge of Major General Richard López Vargas.

Fight against the Tancol

The policies implemented by the National Government in the fight against drugs range from seminars, talks, terminal operations, such as those carried out by Sunad, but also include military operations carried out by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANNB) , hand in hand with the Strategic Operational Command of the FANB (Ceofanb), who maintain a frontal fight against the Colombian Armed Terrorist Drug Trafficking groups (Tancol) on the country’s borders.

In this sense, the Strategic Operational Commander of the FANB, Domingo Hernández Lárez, through his Twitter account, reiterated that the «FANB will continue to fight to prevent heartless beings from using the population for their terrorist purposes of trafficking and consuming narcotic and psychotropic substances.

As part of these actions against drug trafficking and the Tancol in the country, this Thursday members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces disabled the illegal plane number 19 of the year in the state of Apure.

The information was released by the Strategic Operational Commander of the FANB, Domingo Hernández Lárez, through a video shown on his Twitter account.

“Venezuela is a territory of peace, the FANB will not allow the flagrant and unpunished violation of our geographical space by foreign groups or individuals who enter our territory without permission. In Apure, the invading plane number 19 of the year 2022 is disabled, “Hernández Lárez stressed.

These permanent actions of the FANB against the Tancol are part of the Operation Bolivarian Shield 2022 Vuelvan Caras, deployed in the border areas with a large contingent of military personnel, including the Bolivarian Militia, for the expulsion of Colombian terrorists from national territory.

The operations carried out by the military personnel in the border territory have the purpose of definitively expelling these terrorist groups from the country, and comply with the instruction of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to declare 2022 as the year free of the Tancol.

Strengthened in the fight against drug trafficking

On June 27, the Sector Vice President for Citizen Security and Peace, Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, confirmed that with the policies implemented by the national government in terms of security, the Venezuelan State has been strengthened in its fight against drug trafficking.

“The Venezuelan State is strengthened in the fight against drug trafficking, thanks to the policies implemented by the Bolivarian Government,” Ceballos said through his account on the social network Twitter.

Likewise, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, on June 26, the Day of the World Fight Against Drug Use and Trafficking, stressed that Venezuela is firm in its work to end drug trafficking.

“In Venezuela we stand firm to end drug trafficking in our territory,” the National President said through his Twitter account.
