The Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel) reported that the operating companies with the highest average 4G speed during the month of June were Claro and Entel with 10.74 Mbps and 10.56 Mbps, respectively. Further back, Movistar was located with 9.01 Mbps and Bitel with 7.63 Mbps of average speed.
In this way, and after five months as the fastest operator in the market, Entel lost the first place in the ranking, being replaced by Claro, which during June registered the highest average download speed in 4G.
The Mobile Internet Monitoring Panel also detected that seven regions obtained results above the national average: Lima (10.46 Mbps), Tumbes (10.46 Mbps), Ica (10.39 Mbps), Callao (10.27 Mbps), Tacna (10.06 Mbps), Arequipa (9.96 Mbps) and Lambayeque (9.96 Mbps).
At the other extreme were the regions of Huancavelica (8.97 Mbps), Amazonas (8.95 Mbps), Ayacucho (8.93 Mbps), Pasco (8.72 Mbps) and Loreto (7.51 Mbps), with results below the national average.
4G coverage time
Regarding coverage time, users nationwide were connected to a 4G network, on average, by 87.29%, a figure higher than the 87.25% recorded in May, due to the better performance of all operating companies, except for Movistar, which fell 0.05 percentage points.
But this did not affect Movistar maintaining its leadership as the company with the longest coverage time for the fifth consecutive month (88.76%). Further behind were Entel (87.46%), Claro (86.51%) and Bitel (86.25%).
As for the regions with the best coverage time, Tumbes, Piura, Ica and Arequipa stood out with 91.67%, 90.07%, 89.89% and 89.78%, respectively. Meanwhile, Cajamarca (83.68%), Ayacucho (83.47%) and Amazonas (81.12%), showed figures below the national average.
It should be noted that this indicator allows knowing the average percentage of time in which we are within the coverage of 4G technology, which allows a better performance in the quality of service experience.
Packet Loss Rate
Regarding the rate of loss of data packets (indicator whose poor performance can cause the interruption of a data session or that we receive or send information with delays, intermittence or incompletely, in audio and videoconferences, for example) it continued to decrease by sixth consecutive month and reached the national average of 1.31% in June.
Entel was the best performing operator at the national level with a packet loss of 0.87%, surpassing Claro (1.06%), Movistar (1.49%) and Bitel (2.25%).
The regions of Callao, Lima and Tumbes, with 0.88%, 0.96% and 1.01%, respectively, presented a better data packet loss rate; while Huánuco (1.93%), Ayacucho (1.94%) and Loreto (6.42%), had a lower performance.
