The head of the Canillitas union, Omar Plaini, said on Wednesday that the CGT “has to apply its mobilization capacity towards price speculators”, and considered that the Minister of Economy, Silvina Batakis, gave “a message of calm before an attempted currency run” when he made announcements this week.
“We have to apply our ability to mobilize towards price speculators. We have to show the concentrated sectors of the economy that there are workers who cannot make ends meet due to inflation,” Plaini told Delta radio.
The also secretary of economic and social policies of the CGT assured that within the labor union “now there is a proposal” for the Executive to apply “a generalized increase by decree”and also assessed that the unions “should be the spearhead of the claims.”
“We no longer believe that joint ventures are the only thing we workers need. Now the CGT proposes a generalized increase by decree”added Plaini in an interview he gave to radio Futurock.fm.
“Beyond economic growth, there are sectors that, with parity, do not match inflation. That is why we want a generalized increase”
Along these lines, he added: “Beyond economic growth, there are sectors that with the parity do not reach the level of inflation. That is why we want a generalized increase.” remarked.
Plaini, who is also a senator from Buenos Aires, supported the Minister of Economy, when asserting that “in the face of an attempt at a run on the exchange rate, Batakis gave a message of calm”.
“She is solid and is committed to the national and popular field, but the minister has to give an urgent response to the permanent requests to reopen our parity. I know her, but it is not a matter of ministers. The decision to compose salaries has to be a State policy of the Government”, he asserted.
And he continued: “We must not burden the minister or the minister, it has to be a government program, if we are not going to be changing ministers all the time.”
Faced with the internal differences within the Frente de Todos (FdT), Plaini stated that “in the concentrated sectors we are not going to find the answers,” and asked “to lean on the popular sectors.”
