The low temperatures that prevail these days in Santa Cruzas a result of the winter season, have caused problems in at least four locations that today remain without water.
Due to the winter season that lives the provincethe Primavera River remains frozen, which makes it difficult for the water to circulate and for the supply to reach the entire Santa Cruz.
Although public services personnel are working in the area to restore the supply, including with machinery, temperatures between -3° and -10° complicate the situation for the inhabitants of Santa Cruz.
Due to this, the Provincial Council of Education announced that classes have been suspended in the communities of Río Turbio, 28 de Noviembre, Julia Dufour and Rospentek.
“Activities in schools are suspended, while the water distribution system is regularized, affected by severe temperatures, which have caused the collection wells to freeze,” they indicated.
For its part, the provincial government announced that the routes are frozen, making it dangerous to travel through them, and, from today until July 18, “the circulation of light vehicles at night is prohibited.”
The restriction is stipulated in National Route 40, in Provincial 5 in the section Güer Aike to Perito Moreno and in 11 in the section between Güer Aike-La Esperanza-El Calafate and Río Turbio-28 de Noviembre; In addition, in the rest of the province, it is recommended to travel with extreme caution.
The SMN warned that bad weather conditions will continue
The National Meteorological Service (SMN) pointed out in its last report that in the province bad weather conditions will prevail due to the presence of heavy snowfall, especially in Río Gallegos.
In the town, temperatures will be between 1° maximum and -9° minimum during this week, so it is recommended to take precautions, as strong winds could also occur.
