The National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (inai) of Mexico resolved that the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur) announce the contracts for the supervision of works of the seven sections of the mayan train.
This resolution stems from an appeal for review filed by a person who required Fonatur-Mayan Trainpublic body in charge of the work, the delivery of the corporate names of the companies contracted by Fonatur to carry out work supervision tasks, the amount of the contracts, validity and status.
Originally, Fonatur replied to the citizen that he does not have information, which is why the complaint was filed with the inai.
The Inai commissioner, Norma del Río, stated that the mayan train is under the magnifying glass of society and, proof of this, is the growing number of requests for information made by citizens through the National Transparency Platform, of which, “at the moment, there are 4,616 requests, as well as 18,622 records of public information ”.
“It is necessary to know how the public resources destined for this execution are used responsibly and according to the established purposes,” added the official.
Del Río explained that acquisitions are a fundamental task of governments because, through them, goods and services are offered and guaranteed to the population, in addition to the fact that the resources used are public, so there are no excuses to hide contracts.
“We reiterate, the Inai and the guarantor bodies must be careful that the obligated subjects of the three levels of government do not use non-existence and misclassification as excuses for not delivering information,” he warned.
