“They want to punish him for six years because the police said he threw a stone”

Yanelis Ramos Yunior Ramos

MIAMI, United States.- Cuban Yanely Ramos Yera, sister of Yunior Ramos Yera, protester on July 11 in the Placetas municipality, Villa Clara, denounced this Tuesday in dialogue with CubaNet that the young man was sentenced to six years in prison without evidence .

Yanely said that during the trial, in December 2021, “a lot of lies were spoken.” The police officers they didn’t recognize himsaid the protester’s sister.

Yunior’s sentence was supposedly imposed by a stone that no one verified that he threw, says Yanely.

“They want to punish him for six years because the police said he threw a stone”, but this was an accusation that came out in court, even the lawyer questioned the officer why he had not made the complaint in his previous statements, “but The policeman said he had forgotten.”

Even revealed Yanely, a young prisoner in the Pending just like Yunior had assumed responsibility for the stone, and the lawyer confirmed it in the written statement. However, the police released him and used him as a witness in the trial, he lamented.

Yunior Ramos was sentenced to six years in prison, and during the appeal trial the authorities did not reduce him even one day, his sister denounced. “He is a boy who has not even had a traffic ticket in his life, he went from work to home and from home to work, he has three minor children, one of 12 and some jimaguas who turned 3 years old being the prisoner. He was also the main support for my mom, who by then had terminal cancer.”

“My brother was watching television when Miguel Díaz-Canel called Cubans into the streets. He wanted to know what he was thinking. He called me to take care of my mom and he went out. Shortly after he came home and two or three days later they went to look for him at his workplace, ”recalled Yanely.

What he thought would be a citation for a ticket turned out to be an arrest. Yunior’s mother passed away on November 15 and the young man was unable to say goodbye before dying.
