Neighbors of the urbanization Northern Hillsalong kilometer 18 of the Duarte Highway, denounced the unhealthy situation in which they live due to the unloading of trucks of trash in one of the main streets of the sector and right next to a school.
Carmen Peña reported that in addition to the large number of trash in the residential, there is also at the entrance because for a few months the Mayor’s Office has been using the street to transship waste.
“We can’t even sleep because of the bad smell, there are mice, cockroaches, everything that comes from the proximity of the town hall, all the trucks stop there, so the bad smell reaches us because we are so close, but they don’t they have compassion on us,” he said.
It is that in the place the so-called little trucks are parked that collect the waste and are taken to the place to make the transshipment of the trash to the compactor trucks that finely take them to the Duquesa landfill.
Rafael Sosa, indicated that this is a collection center where lines of trucks are formed, for which the community has protested so that this practice is not continued, in what was the transportation place of the Mayor’s Office that has now been converted in a place of exchange trash.
He stated that in the past administration they tried to do what they now have to endure, the community protested and it was not continued, but now the current mayor has not listened to the residents.
“We are going to continue fighting because we deserve respect for our Health and I sometimes ask where is the Ministry of the Environment that should take action on this matter”, he said.
While Teodoro Reyes said that the authorities do not respect that it is a residential area and that it is a main street. He indicated that they will continue to protest peacefully until the problem of the trash.
“The president of the neighborhood meeting from here of the Northern HillsLeonel Comas, apparently does not agree with the community protesting this situation,” he said.
The guide of the school José Reyes, located on 27th street corner Los cerros, Maricela Medina, said that certainly the bad smell of trash he does not leave students and teachers alone because they park the trucks at the entrance of the campus.
He stated that what is happening is of great concern because the entire campus is flooded with the bad smell given off by the waste that the trucks unload. He indicated that School District 1501 has already been notified of the situation.
José Ignacio Aquino Gómez, director of Hygiene and Cleaning of the Mayor of Los Alcarrizossaid that the place is for the workshops, but that a transfer center has been built, due to the lack of trucks, but that in 15 days the situation will change.
