Hoy Paraguay

After being acclaimed by thousands of people in Belgrade upon returning to his country, the 33-year-old tennis player declared that “at the moment I cannot travel to the United States” due to his refusal to be vaccinated.

“I expect positive news (…), but there is not much time left, I don’t know, hope is the last thing to be lost,” he declared before the cameras of Serbian television (RTS).

As was the case at the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year, the former world number 1 could be unable to play the last ‘big’ of the season starting on August 29 in New York.

“I would like to play it, but if it can’t be, it won’t be the end of the world, nor the first Grand Slam that I have to give up,” he added, assuring that his priority is “to stay in good physical and mental shape, since that way he will be able to play longer and there will be new opportunities” to play these tournaments.

On the London lawn, Djokovic conquered his 21st Major tournament and was placed just one behind the record of the Spanish Rafael Nadal, although that has not prevented him from falling to 7th place in the ATP ranking, since Wimbledon did not distribute points as a response from the ATP and WTA professional circuits to the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian tennis players due to the invasion of Ukraine.

The entrance Djokovic doubts his presence at the US Open was first published in diary TODAY.
