With broad consensus, the initiative to reduce the working day from 48 to 40 hours entered its final stretch and in the coming days it will be presented to Congress, said the Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), Marath Bolaños.
He assured that a consultation process was carried out with employers, unions and workers, in which “the best practices” were collected to agree on a proposal that “affirms the rights” of the working class.
“We are already at 99.1 percent, we are moving forward,” he stressed in a brief interview with this newspaper at the end of the event for the fifth anniversary of the Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration.
Although he declined to specify a date, he indicated that President Claudia Sheinbaum will inform in the following weeks what the proposal consists of, its validity and how the reduction will be gradual.
