The latest report from the National Fire Monitoring Center detected 39 communities of 17 municipalities of Santa Cruz and Beni with active fires, so 962 firefighters were deployed to control these emergencies.
“As of today, Wednesday, September 18, in two departments we are still carrying out firefighting tasks in 17 municipalities and in A total of 39 communities affectedwith a deployment of 962 personnel,” explained Adrián Canaviri, commander of the Police Fire Department.
Canaviri indicated that the active fires They are located in 11 municipalities of Santa Cruz and six in Beni, where 962 national and foreign firefighters are still working.
“The Armed Forces deployed a total of 449 forest firefighters, the Government 51, the Bolivian Police 302 and the National Service of Protected Areas (Sernap) 35. In addition, there are the experts and firefighters from Brazil who total 63, from Venezuela 58 and from Chile 4,” he said.
According to the government report, the fires in Santa Cruz are located in the municipalities of: Concepción, Urubichá, Ascensión de Guarayos, Saint Ignatius of Velasco, Saint Joseph, San Matias, San Rafael, San Miguel, Puerto Quijarro, Roboré and San Antonio de Lomerio.
While in Beni they are in areas of the municipalities of: Baures, Exaltation, Riberalta, San Andrés, Magdalena and Guayanamerín.
The Fire Commander recalled that a Canada’s hydrating plane and 200 New Guardian Boxes will be added to the efforts to put out forest fires.
