On September 30, within the framework of the XV Week of the Bike, the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá announced the new Shared Bicycle System jtogether with the company providing the service, Tembici.

From now on, 50% of the system that has with 150 stations, 1,500 mechanical vehicles, 150 manocletos (so that people with disabilities can ‘pedal’ with their arms) and 150 drawers for cargo.
The remaining 50%, that is, the 1,500 electric bikes and the other 150 charging stations will be enabled Starting October 31 this year. “This week is wonderful, we have launched the first bicycle system in the world with a gender focus and with bicycles for people with reduced mobility,” said Deyanira Ávila, Secretary of Mobility.
The bicycles will also have a GPS system thatthat will facilitate its location in case of theft.
How much does the use of shared bicycles cost?
Tembici reported that the base price for a trip in mechanical bike is 150 pesos per minute, to which we must add 890 for the withdrawal of the bicycle. This means that a 10-minute trip costs 2,390 pesos, a 30-minute trip costs 5,390 pesos, and a one-hour trip costs 9,890 pesos.

However, there is also a daily plan for users to access 4 trips of a maximum of 60 minutes each for a fee of 9,990 pesos to which the 890 is added each time the bicycle is removed.
Plans for frequent flyers were also launched: the monthly costs 31,990 and the annual 191,900.
It should be noted that for each of these plans it is necessary to apply an additional fee if the service time is exceeded and if a fifth trip is made. In the first case it will be 150 pesos for each additional minute and for the second, 3,990 pesos for each additional route.
Special bicycles (manocletos or box bicycles) have a base rate of 300 pesos per minute and 1,890 for each withdrawal. For their part, electric bicycles will arrive at a price of 150 pesos per minute and an additional 1,890 for each withdrawal.
Where will shared bikes be available?
The system will be in a polygon of 27 kilometers square between 127th and 6th streets and between 7th race and, at its limit to the west, in a scaled manner, the North highway, the NQS and 10th race

This will be the second largest in Latin America after the one implemented in Mexico City.
What do shared bikes offer?
The bikes will be available in three colors: pink (Tembici’s color), orange (those sponsored by Banco Itaú and Mastercard) and blue (those sponsored by Vanti). They are mechanical and electric bikes that have an aluminum frame, fenders, front and rear lights, adjustable saddle and a basket that It can support up to 5 kilos.
The drawer ones can carry up to 100 kilos of cargo. The manocletas –which, in fact, are 100% produced in Bogotá– have all the safety systems for the user and hydraulic brakes. Finally, there will be 150 chairs to transport girls and boys.
The stations will have solar powered totem poles, smart ports for locking and unlocking, anti-vandal and weather-resistant design. There will be 30 managers and managers on track to provide support to users.
