9/11 Protester Alexis Borges Wilson Repressed and Threatened in Prison

HAVANA, Cuba.- From the Combinado del Este prison, located at kilometer 13 ½ of the Monumental road, in the Guanabacoa municipality of the capital of the island, the 11J protester Alexis Borges Wilson denounces the multiple attacks and threats perpetrated against him by soldiers from that prison.

Through a confidential source, CubaNet learned that Alexis Borges frequently complains due to the lack of medical care, spoiled food and other violations committed in the prison, and for that reason the head of building 1, an officer known as Major Hardy, and an unidentified lieutenant, constantly subject him to punishment.

The officers, revealed the source, have also instructed the auxiliary guards to spray him in the eyes if he continues to protest or demand rights, Major Hardy has threatened to apply the punishment known as “the bus”, consisting of leaving prisoners handcuffed to a bench for several days, during which time they are forced to eat, sleep, and alleviate their physiological needs in place, since they are not moved at all.

According to the information, the relatives of Borges Wilson went the day of the visit to the Department of Attention to Citizenship, where Captain Yoel, head of internal order, denied the possibility that the officers would carry out the threat of applying the aforementioned torture, since they are only allowed to isolate him in a punishment cell each time he complains (however, the source emphasizes that the prisoner himself has seen how they have done it to other protesters).

However, the captain added that if Borges Wilson rebels and counters the attacks, then they have an order to “beat him to death”. In this sense, it is necessary to clarify that prisoners are beaten with their hands handcuffed behind their backs.

The protester has also denounced that despite the fact that he continues to demand to be taken to the ophthalmologist, because he sees less every day, the prison authorities tell him that he has to wait, because at this time they cannot take him out of the prison for an external consultation. The source notes that Borges Wilson was transferred to the 4th floor of the building, where the common prisoners are held.
