The authorities indicated that a group of people with face coverings, calling themselves the “black bloc” used explosive devices, sticks and other “dangerous objects” to break glass and create disturbances.

The Rescue and Emergency Medical Squad (ERUM) provided 37 medical attentions, mostly due to heat stroke, blows and sprains. In addition, 24 policewomen were treated at the scene.

Of the total number of people treated, only four were transferred to a hospital, of which three were civilians and one was police.

Contingents advanced throughout the afternoon towards the Zócalo of the CDMX.

Mexico reached International Women’s Day in the midst of a wave of sexist violence, with more than 10 women murdered every day, and with 95% of the cases in impunity. In addition, there is a historical record of almost 30,000 disappeared.

Given these alarming figures that do not decrease, the feminist movement has been growing in Mexico.

Before the pandemic, tensions between the Mexican authorities and groups of women who took to the streets to demonstrate increased and, although the pandemic increased the numbers of violence against women and decreased the possibility of organizing, this Wednesday the gathering showed that feminism is not stop growing.
