87,390 have passed through the Darién jungle so far in 2023

The Ministry of Security (Minseg) reported that, until this Saturday, April 1, 87,390 irregular migrants have passed through the jungle of Darién bound for the United States.

He added that the most frequent nationalities are Venezuelans (30,250), Haitians (23,243) and Ecuadorians (14,328).

He added that there are currently 513 boys and girls in the different Immigration Reception posts, where they are cared for with accommodation, food, medical and psychological care by members of Panamanian State entities and international organizations.

During the month of January, 24,634 irregular migrants passed through Panama to the United States, in February 24,657 and in March 38,099. On March 26, 1,365 migrants were counted, being the day when the largest number entered the jungles of Darién, the Minseg concluded.
