Tijuana, BC., Around 800 migrants from Ukraine are camping at the Tijuana-San Diego border crossing, the vast majority at the San Ysidro port of entry, while some 40 settled at the Otay gate, waiting to cross into the United States . The avalanche has grown in recent hours as it has spread in Europe that the United States will receive hundreds of Ukrainian citizens fleeing the Russian invasion, according to the new arrivals. Although US authorities are sheltering everyone, Customs and Border Protection has said it does not have enough staff to process applications more quickly. Ukrainians are arriving directly from Europe at the Tijuana airport – even with pets – and are moving to the checkpoints.
