The regions in which it is determined to stop wearing a mask in open places and relax biosecurity measures must have at least 80% of their population vaccinated against coronavirus with the two-dose scheme and 50% with the booster dose. the Government reported yesterday.
The Minister of Health, Jeyson Auza, reported yesterday at a press conference that this was the decision of the National Strategic Council for Health Emergencies that met in the face of announcements from various regions to relax measures against the coronavirus.
“The Ministry of Health and Sports, as the governing body of the health system, will analyze the flexibility of the biosafety measures in force in territorial areas that comply with all the detailed parameters,” Auza said.
On Wednesday the 4th, the Sucre Municipal Council approved a law to stop wearing the mask in open public spaces. Meanwhile, the municipalities of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, La Paz and El Alto announced their intention to take a similar measure in the following days.
However, the head of Health stressed that as long as the governing body analyzes all the parameters indicated and a regulation is issued that allows their flexibility, “no Autonomous Territorial Entity will be able to make biosafety measures more flexible.”
The authority stressed that although the fatality rate was reduced from 6.2 to 0.7, the false perception that the coronavirus pandemic is over should not be had.
Covid-19 arrived in Bolivia in March 2020, when a rigid quarantine was established.
