8 years after the kidnapping of Edelio Morínigo: they regret forgetfulness of the authorities

On a day like today but in 2014, Edelio Morínigo had been kidnapped by members of the self-styled Army of the Paraguayan People (EPP) while he was hunting with some friends at the Macchi Cue ranch, located in Arroyito, Concepción.

His mother, Obdulia Florenciano, sadly recalled this date, assuring that today marks another anniversary of when an important member of their family was taken from them.

He questioned the fact that the situation of the hostages has been forgotten by both the authorities and the citizens themselves. “Ha’ekuéra deserves respect like any other person”.

In the same way, she also regrets that until now there is no news about her son after so much time has elapsed since his kidnapping, which means that her uncertainty continues to be maintained every day.

Doña Obdulia lamented that because they are humble people, justice does not move in the same way to help them as it does with other cases where there is greater speed, a fact that “hurts her heart.”

A “march for peace” is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in the district of Arroyito to commemorate the anniversary of the kidnapping of noncommissioned officer Edelio Morínigo.
