The “Operation Zaraza 2024” with a police-military deployment in that town of Guárico to dismantle cells of the Tren del Llano, was extended to the neighboring Santa María de Ipire, according to military sources.
In a rural area of this town in Guariqueño, the officers had a confrontation with members of a criminal gang associated with the Tren del Llano. During the fight, three criminals were killed.
At the scene of the confrontation, officers seized two handguns and a bulletproof vest.
This brings the number of criminals killed to eight, taking into account the five who fell in sectors of Zaraza, among them the leader of the El Pepón gang, Yohani Machuca.
So far, eight people have been arrested, nine firearms and 10 magazines have been seized, according to a preliminary report.
Tren del Llano and its cells are dedicated to collecting taxes in dollars from medium and small agricultural producers in Guárico. They apply the same criminal practice to entrepreneurs in any sector.
In another procedure, the military arrested five members of the El Jeiser gang in the Los Jobos sector, Ortiz (Guárico). The subjects were seized a Pietro Beretta .380 pistol, a pistol magazine, 111 cartridges of different calibers, three radio transmitters, three cell phones and two motorcycles without license plates, according to a report from Detachment 341 of the Bolivarian National Guard.
Those arrested in this procedure were identified as Roger David Guedez Linares, Oscar Javier Rivero Garcia, Luis Alberto Mendoza, Cesar Augusto Aponte Parra and Zoraida Josefina Aquino Morillo. These people were handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office where a case was opened against them for illegal possession of a firearm and association.
